Yamaha XS 650 US Custom Travels
First ride real ride out on the XS was with my colleague Dave Whitmore the happy sole in the picture below on his 1974 Triumph Tiger TR7 - which is as I understand it the single carb version of the Bonneville. We had been talking about a run into Wales for some time and decided that the first run on the bikes will be to Aberystwyth on the Welsh coast . I think the picture belowe was taken on the B4355 between Knighton and Newton. Later in the Journey we stopped off for a Tea at the Cafe at Devils bridge before heading into Aberystwyth and getting lunch on the seafront.
The two old classic bikes looked totally out of place parked up on the seafront in amongst all the modern machinery but I am pretty sure that the thump thump of the old paralell twins got far more attention when going through the town than the modern plastic wrapped multi's.
